What was the famous line? "It's the economy, stupid"
Yes and it still is
Trump rolled out his big chart – with lots of misspelled words. I know spelling is not essential to this man who can’t read, but he likes charts with lots of arrows – especially arrows he draws himself.
So, we watch him play with tariffs like balls that we throw for our dog – that’s right, Mr Ego doesn’t have a dog. He has Vance instead! The tariffs are supposed to be economically inspired but ask Brazil about that since he is trying to get them not to prosecute his counterpart – Bolsonaro. I think he fears this could set a precedent that he would not like. But on the economic side we do not have an economic deficit with Brazil – we have a surplus.
Paul Krugman in his Substack wrote, “Donald Trump isn’t “winning his trade war.” He’s imposing a lot of tariffs, and so far nobody has stopped him even though his actions are clearly illegal. But “winning” a trade war, if it means anything, means using tariffs to extract meaningful concessions from other countries. And while some major trading partners, notably the European Union, are humoring Trump by pretending to make concessions, when you look at what they’re actually doing it’s just vaporware.”
Do you remember way back to On August 1 when Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics after a weak jobs report, claiming that the numbers had been rigged to damage him politically. Yes they had been rigged, but a corrupt and inept White House who created the statistics that he does not want anyone to see.
He wants us to believe that the economy is going great, those price increases at the grocery stores are not real. You are not paying more despite having less money in the bank after each trip to the store. It is all a hoax. It is so silly trump posted on TRUTH – Be COOL! Something out climate is having a hard time doing.
To prove his point, he had his “economist” Stephen Moore with him in an attempt to convince us that the economy is actually doing great. Moore gives economists a terrible name and since I studied economics decades ago, I am appalled. Representing the Freedom Works/Heritage Foundation he has lashed out at Paul Krugman and other legitimate economists.
Sourcewatch had this to say about him, “Moore wrote to Donald Trump: "I am respectfully asking that you withdraw my name from consideration. The unrelenting attacks on my character have become untenable for me and my family and 3 more months of this would be too hard on us" according to CNN. The "unrelenting attack" referenced by Moore likely is a response to "decades' worth of disparaging comments Moore has made about women" uncovered by multiple news outlets, including CNN and the New York Times"
Meanwhile trump tries to distract with a meeting in Alaska for Putin – watch out Donald, Russia used to claim Alaska, but of course the two criminals are meeting there because Putin would be arrested if he landed in Europe.
So of course – BE COOL
